In my humble opinion this is one of the best laid out bars in town from the classy entrance through to the seating, stage design, bar serving area and lighting it is clearly obvious a lot of thought and planning has gone into the creation of this bar.
Everything is where it should be and everything works. This makes for maximum enjoyment on behalf of the customer. This is literally an up-market fields avenue style bar in the heart of Perimeter Road with Perimeter Road prices.
The bar is owned and to some extent managed by Vidar and Greg. Vidar is Norwegian and the longer term members of AE will no doubt remember him from his days at the Gentlemen’s club and Dirty Duck. He has moved on since those days and can now be found mainly at Eruption Bar and next door in Doctor Holmes bar. Greg is a relative new comer hailing from Australia. You will easily recognize him because of his trade mark bandana. He is a friendly guy and quick to have a chat with you and share a few drinks.
The bar is located on a little side street directly opposite from Bambinos Restaurant, just behind Dr Holmes Bar. It is approximately 25 yards off Perimeter Road and the exact address is 22nd street Josefa Sub Division Perimeter Road.
The bar opens at 12 midday and closes at 3am. The daytime manager is Mike and the nighttime manager is Detroit Al. Eruption is a large bar with friendly dancers, waitresses, bar staff, managers, doormen and security guards. They have approximately 50 dancers in here with some really good lookers. The mamasan is friendly and in my experience quick to point you towards a nice girl.
The bar has only been open since October 2007 but already it has an extremely loyal following and is regularly on the retinue of bar hopping locals and tourists alike. The peak times are from 5 to 8pm and then again from 2 to 3 as the majority of their competitors on Perimeter Road close at 2am.
Being on Perimeter Road they have competitive prices and a special feature of this bar is their SMB and SML draught beer. This is available in two sizes for 30 and 40 peso. Many people have told me in their opinion this is the best draught beer in town. The bar staff are thoroughly professional and can make just about any drink you may request providing they have the ingredients.
The bar has no less than 6 air conditioning units so no matter how hot it is outside it is always nicely chilled in here. Add to this the beautifully chilled draught beer and you have the perfect afternoon retreat in which to escape the tropical heat.
As I mentioned earlier this bar is a very well thought out design. The stage takes up about 50% of the front of the bar and is horse shoe shaped. At either side of the stage are little raised stages with poles. These prove very handy should any of the girls wish to get a bit wild or if a customer brings a girl bar hopping and she has the sudden desire to dance.
The main stage is big enough to fit at least 20 girls and the girls rotate so the customer can see all of them without having to move around the bar. The girls here are very friendly and will often greet you with a rousing hello as you walk through the door. They often do special impromptu dance routines for the customer’s enjoyment and they are always smiling and seem genuinely happy. Needless to say there are a few real cuties here.
Next to the miniature raised stages on either side are some comfortable lounges where the customers can sit and have a more intimate moment with their companion. I have noticed the friendly waitresses tend to specialize in this area and it is not uncommon to see them enjoying a drink or three with various customers.
For those customers who like closer contact with the girls there is a number of seats situated right next to the stage these allow close contact with the girls. In the center of the bar is a series of tables which vary in their seating capacity from 6 people through to at least ten people on the large managers table. The managers table for me has always been an important part of the bar and this is a major feature of Eruption bar.
The design comes into play once again as no matter where you sit in this centre area you can see the entire bar without moving from your seat.
The bar has a separate pool room and this is very popular with the local pool leagues. Adorning the walls are pictures of Mount Pinatubo exploding hence the name and theme of the bar. The pool room has a separate entrance and any noise generated here is kept away from the girlie bar area and vice versa. The separate room also affords pool players plenty of room to socialize and still make their shots, there is no cramped quarters here.
The name Eruption is actually highly appropriate as the building this bar now occupies was derelict for many years after Pinatubo. First it was the Pizza Zone but when this failed to materialize the Eruption bar rose from the ashes like the proverbial Phoenix.
The eruption bar features a comprehensive snack menu ranging from Hamburgers, French Fries, Hotdogs and Pizza through to Barbeque Kebabs, Chili snacks and sandwiches.
For the drinks they have a range of beers including the imported beers Heineken and Becks. They also have a range of juices hot and cold drinks a large range of shooters with a special emphasis on the dreaded black shit (personally I don’t know what the Norwegians see in this but Greg even though Australian seems to be well on the Black shit program) and a very well stocked bar of single shot liquor.
All the food and drinks are displayed on menus which are placed for customer convenience on all the tables and around the bar top next to the stage.
This bar has lots of little special features such as the Ping Pong balls which cost a mere three hundred peso for a container of 30. The commission on these balls is divided between the girls who collect them and a fund for the girls. This fund is used for when the girls have some sort of emergency. They also have the golden shower where the customer pushes a button and this causes 200 orange pink pong balls to fall from a hole in the roof above the stage. The girls love this and it causes quite a spectacle when done.
The lighting in the bar is excellent as is the music reproduction and volume it is played at. The lighting is designed so you can clearly see all the girls on the stage and read the menus at each table yet at the same time it is dim enough to provide you a certain intimacy with your partner. The Konzert speakers are pointed at the dance stage however the acoustics of the room are such that the customer gets excellent sound no matter where in the bar he sits.

Eruption is a well thought out classic Angles style girlie bar combining aspects of Perimeter road and Fields Avenue all under one roof. At the current moment its peak times are 5 to 8 pm and 2 to 3 am. No coincidence 5 to 8 pm is when the majority of girls are at work.
There is something for everyone in this bar from the companionship of beautiful friendly Filipinas and great music through to hunger satiating snacks, a large range of drinks, comfortable seating which affords a view of the entire bar, a comprehensive music library, excellent stage and seating layout, separate pool room, artistic decorations on the mirrors, very reasonable prices, ping pong balls, golden showers large range of drinks, draught beer, very friendly girls, friendly efficient staff and a often frequented managers table where many a drink is consumed and even more tall tales are told.
This is an impressive bar no matter what you are looking for and I have no hesitation in recommending AE members put it on their regular bar hopping list. They really have done a great job in designing this bar and it is always a pleasure to visit here.
Best of all they are Asian Escapades friendly and will give a 10% discount of the total food and drink bill to any card carrying member.
